  43. INSTRUCTIONS
  44. ------------
  45. This software is used to display .ANS (ANSI files format) to users.
  46.  
  47. The Picturor! can be used for a catalog, instruction book, magazine, drawing 
  48. contest or simply to display files.
  49.  
  50. It has so far been tested only on Remote Access 1.11, but it should work on
  51. any BBS with a FILES.BBS list format.

  54. LOAD THE PICTUROR!
  55. ------------------
  56. To load Picturor! in local mode, (for Demo. purposes), type from the Picto
  57. directory    PICTO LOCAL.CFG
  58. It will ask you your name and go on.  Take note that if will run
  59. as in an UNREGISTRED mode unless you have the PICTO.KEY file, but always
  60. UNREGISTRED when in local mode.

  62. You will need to create a configuration file.  To do so, at the DOS prompt
  63. type:  PICTO filename.CFG /C
  64. Answer a few questions, (They are described below).
  65. That will create the configuration file "filename".CFG.
  66. You can use as many .CFG file as you wish with the same program.

  68. To execute The Picturor!, make a batch file like like the following:
  69.         @echo off
  70.         cd \picto
  71.         picto confiuration filename with extention
  72.         cd \RA
  73.  
  74. Here is an example for Remote Access:
  75.         @echo off
  76.         cd \PICTO
  77.         picto door.cfg
  78.         cd \RA

  80. To install the door for Remote Access, use the following example:
  81. Type 7 ext. door
  82. option line: C:\Command.com /C \ra\picto.bat *m

  85. .CFG FILES DESCRIPTION
  86. ----------------------
  87. it is made up of 21 lines:
  88. 1:  Your BBS software exit door file.
  89.      DRIVE:\PATH\FILENAME.EXT  for RA dirve:\ra\dorinfo1.def
  90. 2:  Name of your BBS (as in your BBS configuration file)
  91. 3:  SysOp First Name (as in your BBS configuration file)
  92. 4:  SysOp Last Name (as in your BBS configuration file)
  93. 5:  Com Port      (Only for GT Power BBS. For other system, don't write
  94.                    this line)
  95. 6:  Node Number   (Only for GT Power BBS. For other system, don't write
  96.                    this line)
  97. 7:  The pathname where the FILES.BBS resides (write the trailing backslash)
  98.      DRIVE:\PATH\
  99. 8:  The pathname where the .ANS files reside (write the trailing backslash)
  100.      DRIVE:\PATH\
  101. 9:  The title you want to use.  It will appear on top green line in the menu.
  102. 10: Pathname and filename of the presentation file.  If you don't want to
  103.     use one, leave it blank.

  105. 11: Pathname and filename of the instruction file.  If you don't want to
  106.     use one, leave it blank.
  107.      DRIVE:\PATH\FILENAME.EXT
  108. 12: Description mode when starting.  There are 3 modes:
  109.        0 - just files names and no description (you can have 112 per screen)
  110.       27 - 2 columns files names and half desciptions (32 files per screen.)
  111.       65 - 1 columns files names and full descriptions (16 files per screen.)
  112. 13: Mode 0  - eneable or diseable    1 = On   0 = Off
  113. 14: Mode 27 - eneable or diseable    1 = On   0 = Off
  114. 15: Mode 65 - eneable or diseable    1 = On   0 = Off
  115. 16: Write 0                                        (Used in the next release)
  116. 17: Leave blank                                    (Used in the next release)
  117. 18: Leave blank                                    (Used in the next release)
  118. 19: Write 0                                        (Used in the next release)
  119. 20: Drive and pathname where The Picturor! resides (Used in the next release)

  125. FILES.BBS
  126. ---------
  127. The FILES.BBS format:
  128. FILENAME.EXT description of the file (up to 65 car.)
  129. eg.
  130. Snoppy.ans Snoppy with his computer
  131.  
  132. All files must have then extention .ANS, if other extentions are found
  133. or if there is anything else on the line, it will simply bypass them.

  136. MULTI-NODE
  137. ----------
  138. The Picturor! should work in a multi-node environment, but SHARE must be 
  139. loaded. Take note that it hasn't been tested yet.  Feedbacks are welcome.

  142. GENERAL
  143. -------
  144. The Picturor! does it's own WatchDog and Carrier Detect if the user is idle 
  145. for more then 5 minutes, it close the door and return to the BBS.
  146.  
  147. The Picturor!  also has SysOp features on the status bar like chat, drop door,
  148. modify time left and security level, etc....  Press <HOME> on the local
  149. console to get help.

  151. The Picturor! can be used with many configuration files. (useful for on-line
  152. catalogs, magazines, books, drawing contests, etc...)

  155. ANSI files
  156. ----------
  157. If you create files with The Draw 5.00, use the block save (ALT+B) instead
  158. of the normal (CTRL+S) and None as line limits, that seems to give better
  159. results.
  160.  
  161. There is also a limit for the size of the file.  But it depends of your
  162. free memory.  It is better to swap to disk before entering in the door
  163. if this feature is offered with your BBS software.

  166. REGISTRATION
  167. ------------
  168. The unregitred version is limit to 5 minutes of use, 16 files maximum,
  169. the presentation and instruction features doesn't work.
  170. When registred, it has an unlimited number of files, can be use at any amount
  171. of time, the presentation and instruction features which are very useful.
  172. If you find this program useful and plan to use this program for more than 
  173. 30 days, you'll need to register it.  Just copy or print the ORDER.FRM, fill 
  174. it out and send it to me with 10.00$ Canadian currency if you register it 
  175. from Canada, or 10.00$ US if you register it from anywhere else (I know if 
  176. it's more but, I do it will cost me money to convert in to Canadian currency.)

  179. When you have mailed the ORDER.FRM, call S.A.T.I.C. BBS to download your
  180. PICTO.KEY file. (approx 2k.)

  182. Add 5$ if you want the lastest copy on on disk 5.25" or 7$ for 3.5" disks.

  189. Take note that the next release and the release after that will always cost
  190. 5$ more each time.  So if you plan to useing this program, it is to your
  191. advantage to register Now! because your Key file will always work on future
  192. versions of The Picturor!.  If you wait, you'll end up paying more!

  195. the old price will still be good for 30 day's.

  207. FUTURE ENHANCMENTS
  208. ------------------
  209. I'm working on it right now, I'm adding a voting feature which will be
  210. very useful for contests, or big choices you want to demostrate on your
  211. board.  It will also include all the suggestions (if possible) that you
  212. send to me.
